Typofonderie mini tour on the US West Coast
In October 2017, Jean François together with Véronique will visit San Francisco and Seattle for talks. In Seattle, a letterform workshop under the TypeParis banner is also planned. Since years, the common approach to describe a good typography is to demontraste how typefaces are transparent to the eyes of the readers, to reduce the barrer between user and content. Meanwhile, when you design typefaces for brands and communications, transparency isn’t completly effective, as the brand messages should be reconnizable as part of a global identity. How to reconcile these contradictions? The visible invisibility of words is a talk about nuggets of typographic wisdom in designing custom typefaces for some of the world’s most recognizable brands: Le Monde, the Paris Metro, Louis Vuitton, Galleries Lafayette, Sephora, YSL Beauté, The Boston Consulting Group and Nespresso – as well recent typefaces published by Typofonderie.
